Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Grant Accounting Manager on behalf of an impactful nonprofit that advocates for families and youth. This is a very exciting local remote, full-time, and direct-hire opportunity in Austin, TX!

This position with our Client will start off remote and will require employees to report to work at a physical location 2 - 3 days a week in January. As a cautionary measure, our Client is asking all employees to be fully vaccinated by the date of hire. Overview

The Grant Accounting Manager directs the activities and functions of the Grants Accounting Team, including overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and analyses as well as the submission of monthly grants and contracts invoices for accounts receivable.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with developing the budget.
  • Disseminating approved annual budget to managers and manage accurate budget entry into accounting system.
  • Administering and maintaining adequate internal controls to ensure fiscal compliance with contracts and grants.
  • Ensuring the timely completion of month end closing tasks and duties to properly close out the month and prepare financial statements in collaboration with other Finance team leaders.
  • Ensuring accounts payable expenditures meet compliance with grant requirements and agency policies as well as completeness and accuracy of grant cost reports.
  • Preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Coordinating and supporting annual agency financial audit as well as internal audits by funders.
  • Coordinating execution of reporting processes with Director of Grants & Compliance.
  • Aiding with contract budget development.
  • Maintaining fiscal guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Retaining learned information and translating financial aspects i for departments to understand clearly and comply with accordingly.
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, ongoing training, and facilitating regular supervision of Grant Accountants.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
  • Extensive experience managing financial/accounting operations with multiple funding streams, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Multiple years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge/experience with requirements of federal grants and contracts funding and GAAP requirements.
  • Substantial knowledge of computer hardware and software, and computerized office management applications including experience with automated accounting and financial systems. Specific experience with Oracle Net Suite accounting software preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Proficient level experience with Microsoft Office including, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
