Purpose
Under limited supervision, trouble shoot repairs on production equipment and plant facilities and provide electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic preventive maintenance.
Essential Job Functions
- Repair and perform preventive maintenance, facilities, high voltage, and production equipment, HVAC, company vehicles, yard trucks, forklifts, mobile cranes, tractors
- Repair and report electrical problems or upgrades needed to comply with NEC and OSHA standards
- Responsible for 24 hour “on-call” for plant equipment failure and emergency
- Maintain buildings and grounds in appropriate condition, including painting and repairing of facilities, snow removal and lawn maintenance when required
- Partner with equipment manufacturing service personnel on installation, training, set up, moving, troubleshooting and repair of equipment and facilities
- Perform construction projects, structural and non-structural, to repair or improve facilities
- Coordinate with supervisor for new building designs and equipment layout
- Provide work direction to lesser experienced employees on preventive maintenance and grounds maintenance projects, as needed
- Design and fabricate items or parts to upgrade production facilities or equipment to promote safety and efficiency
- Observe problems, damages or potential safety hazards on daily travels through facilities and correct them or report them to supervisor
- Request parts needed for a specific job and obtain necessary approval to make purchases
- Complete reports on preventive maintenance and equipment repairs
- Conduct periodic safety inspections on equipment
- Manage hazardous waste program by receiving proper training; coordinate with safety manager and production personnel regarding spills and clean up; maintain waste areas for electrical bulbs, batteries, chemicals, etc.; ensure that waste is labeled properly; sign manifests for shipment and forward to safety manager
Requirements
Physical Demands:
- Perform work throughout the Schwing campus 100% of the time using the following equipment: common hand tools, specialty tools, test equipment, power tools, welding equipment, crane, forklift, and man-lift
Education/Skills/Experience:
- Licensed maintenance electrician or qualified to work under the direct supervisor of maintenance electrician
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics
- Experience with precision measuring tools and production and facilities equipment
- Ability to solder, weld and braze
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills
- Self-motivated
