Job Summary:

The Finance Manager/Controller is responsible for the accurate and timely financial reporting on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. A primary function of this position is creating and analyzing Microsoft PowerBI and ERP reports including P&L, balance sheet, monthly budgets, cash flows and break-even reporting. This position is also responsible for the periodic preparation of quarterly projections in conjunction with business reviews conducted by upper management. Net margin reporting responsibilities include inventories, yield, and gross margin calculations. This position requires direct communication with leadership and strong analytical skills. This Associate will also support all financial reporting requirements. Serving as a change agent, this position will seek opportunities for improvement of processes and procedures and lead those changes across the company. This role will have managerial responsibilities, overseeing the finance staff. This is a hands-on position. Additional responsibilities include special projects as assigned for future enhancements.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Preparation and timely presentation of periodic financial reports including cash flow, margins, trade spend, and budget to actual departmental reports.
  • Complete period, quarterly and annual closing of the financial statements.
  • Perform analytical procedures on controllable costs, including comparisons to prior period, prior year, forecast, and plan.
  • Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accurate financials.
  • Prepare periodic balance sheet reconciliations and schedules, as well as quarterly balance sheet analytics.
  • Prepare budget template history, analyze, and update expenses, and work with budget owners to produce an accurate quarterly budget for flash and financial reporting, along with a cash flow projection.
  • Periodic gross profit and shrink analysis.
  • Document all processes, key controls, and desktop procedures.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for automation and simplification of reporting processes.
  • Manage the trade spend process including oversight of individual responsible.
  • Manage the daily AR balance by reviewing terms of key customers and contacting delinquent accounts in a timely fashion.
  • Assist senior leadership in forecast and analysis.
  • Provide ad-hoc projects and analysis as requested.
  • Serve as Finance interface across multiple departments, acting as financial arm to the operations group and supporting operations in both New Jersey and Georgia.
  • Aid in development of finance and accounting team.
  • Lead by example and develop strong personnel performance goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 4+ years of related experience required.
  • Experience within the food industry required.
  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions and processes.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Ability to function well in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills to manage information gathering requests.
  • Results oriented with the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to multi-task, and work independently, and meet necessary deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving, and analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to quickly learn various in-house software applications.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI tool or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and superior customer service.
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and external vendors/clients.
  • Skilled at managing interpersonal relations to build rapport inside and outside immediate team.
  • Ability to motivate through leadership and facilitate development of associates.
