Job Description
***Position Located in Hastings, MI (40-45 minutes outside Grand Rapids, MI)***
Position Overview:
Research and develop mechanical products and services, including quoting and specifying products, development of bills of material, and appropriate drawings by established design practices and quality standards.
Specific Duties:
- Plans and formulates aspects of new product development proposals such as applications for modernized and modified presses, cost of projects, equipment and human resource requirements.
- Reviews, researches and analyzes replacement component quotes and sales proposals to determine if the product can be manufactured as specified.
- Approves and submits proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds for the construction of new or modified products.
- Supports shop floor or new product start-ups by assisting/coordinating production and production activities.
- Generates appropriate bills of materials from prints/drawings to allow for the production of presses parts and products.
- Utilizes CAD, SolidWorks and/or related drawing/detailing apparatus to generate finished prints for purchasing and manufacturing use.
- Prepares and/or assists in the development of standard operating procedures and BOM’s to be used by manufacturing/purchasing when producing a salable product.
- Manage/administers company Quality System, ISO 9001:2015.
- Will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Program Management and customers.
- Lead in addressing quality audits and non-conformances at various suppliers when required.
- Support material review team in determining disposition of non-conforming material, investigate and close corrective action reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills, Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent required
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suites
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment,
- Minimum of (2) years of hands on experience with 2D/3D design practices
- Prefer exposure to: CMM and Quality Control experience in a manufacturing experience
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience with metal forming presses, automation and controls a plus.
