Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Develops and maintains customer relationships including responding to customer service inquiries and RFQ’s. Identifies and communicates customer requests and actions required to appropriate internal sources. Follow up with internal sources and customers during inquiry resolution and quoting process until complete. Follows up on outstanding quotes to acquire the sale and obtain purchase orders. Reviews purchase orders received against quotations and acknowledges to Customer with delivery dates.  Provide day-to-day customer service for assigned accounts including backup support for team members.  Is accountable to ensure excellent customer service through fast and accurate processing of quotations.  Acts as the liaison between the customer and the company by coordinating the activities required for the processing and completion of quotations and general inquiries. Work in a team environment to achieve objectives of the department and company in a collaborative manner.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Orientation

  • Develops and maintains customer relationships
  • Identifies and promotes solutions to problems; obtains and communicates customer needs and requirements to internal departments
  • Provides customer service; coordinates internal company resources to resolve customer issues, including engineering, purchasing, and logistics
  • Solicits and communicates customer information to ascertain selling opportunities
  • Pays special attention to customers in an emergency situation (ex: down press)

RFQ’s and General Inquiries

  • Receives, evaluates and processes customer Requests for Quotations
  • Tracks status of quotations and reports to customer
  • Identifies customer requirements and issues and communicates to internal departments
  • Provides prioritization and expediting needs to internal departments to meet customer requirements
  • Ensures customer timeframes are met to build customer relationships

Continuous Improvement & Personal Learning

  • Tracks performance to personal and department objectives and metrics; identifies and executes corrective actions and supports continuous improvement efforts and group metrics
  • Actively participates in Employee Development and Performance Management Processes
  • Becomes familiar with basics on how to read technical information; drawings, schematics, BOM’s etc.
  • Uses all available software, manuals, schematics, drawings, etc. to improve customer response time
  • Utilizes tools and resources, including ERP system and Quality Procedures, in performing tasks and meeting objectives

Other:

  • Functions in a team environment providing back up support to team members
  • Handles management reporting as assigned
  • Sets work priorities from and with the Customer Service Manager
  • Completes work and/or special projects as assigned by the Customer Service Manager

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Position reports to Customer Service Manager.   May coordinate related activities with sales, engineering, cost estimating, purchasing, shipping/receiving and affiliated Schuler Group companies.
