Job Description

The School District of Onalaska is accepting applications for a full-time Business Accounting Specialist. The Business Accounting Specialist shall provide for the efficient and effective operation of accounts payable processing and other accounting processes. Applicant should possess general accounting and budget knowledge.

Essential functions include:

  • Be able to utilize Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting Requirements (WUFAR).
  • Responsible for verifying all types of accounts payable, reimbursements, athletic officials' and contractor payments, and P-Cards per District policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for inputting and verifying all types of invoices and documentation for Accounts Payable and P-Cards.
  • Responsible for verifying all work is processed with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Responsible for contacting staff and vendors relative to any questions regarding Accounts Payable and P-Cards.
  • Responsible for assisting in answering questions from staff regarding requisitions, invoices, payments, vendors or any related subject.
  • Responsible for assembling payment reports and voucher listing twice a month for Director of Finance and Business Services and Board Member review.
  • Responsible for ensuring processing of ACH payments associated with Accounts Payable and distribution of Accounts Payable checks.
  • Responsible for setting up all new vendors, maintaining up to date W-9s, and certificates of insurance.
  • Responsible for reconciling any card accounts outside of the P-Card program.
  • Responsible for sending out invoices for any reimbursements due to the District from payments processed. May include assisting with invoices for facility usage.
  • Assist Accounting Manager with cash receipts, online payments, and other accounting work.
  • Assist Accounting Manager with preparation for annual financial audit, worker's compensation audit, E-Rate program, and other reports as necessary.
  • Answer any questions from Administrators, complete any research needed to assist them including processing reports from the general ledger.
  • Responsible for other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma with related business education courses and work experience in processing accounts payable.
  • Two-year Associate Accounting Degree or combination of course work and work experience in accounting, excel, word processing and other clerical skills. Knowledge of Skyward software is preferred.
  • Must be proficient with computerized accounts payable and have accurate calculator skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required. Must be capable of prolonged computer usage.
  • Must be available to work full time and be dedicated to performing duties according to required deadlines each month.
  • Ability to accurately operate a variety of office equipment.
  • Such qualifications as the administration may find appropriate



Start Date: January 2022 or sooner
Wage: $22.30/hour
