Responsibilities:

  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Regular communication of company injury and incidents metrics, tracking and auditing processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in the industry as it pertains to safety.
  • Provides management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm locations follow industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
  • Keep up to date on current federal, state, and local regulations, legislation and changes in safety codes.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures and all OSHA regulations.
  • Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site presence at all locations.
  • Ensure all equipment is being inspected prior to use every day at all locations and are safe for use.
  • Monitor and analyze workers compensations losses. Develop policies, programs, training and other methods to reduce exposure based on information.
  • Ensure employees are operating in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment is being operated properly and in a safe manner at all times
  • Any other responsibilities deemed appropriate by the Schilling family, store managers, or operations managers

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety related discipline a plus
  • Prior Safety Manager experience a plus
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and Industry Standards, highly desirable, or willingness to obtain these certifications.
