Job Description

The Shipping Supervisor oversees and executes all shipping and internal materials movements from the production lines in support of the overall outbound shipping operation and associated inventory management. Specific Duties include:

  • Plans, organizes, supervises, and participates in daily warehouse operation and activities, including the shipping supplies, maintenance of inventory, fork truck safety and maintenance, logistics coordination of all outbound shipments.

  • Coordinates shipment of all outbound customer whole goods and service parts orders for on time delivery.

  • Oversees yard operations and organization of all materials stored outside. This includes dumpsters, recycling containers, and scrap metal services.

  • Initiates, investigates, and resolves all damaged and lost freight claims.

  • Primary liaison between Schiller and the third-party logistics sources.

  • Contacts customer service and customers to maximize load and increase dollars shipped.

  • Reviews all logistics reports and KPIs to monitor vendor performance.

  • Knowledgeable of the processing of invoices, receipts and whole goods/parts fulfillment and returns.

  • Monitors Bill of Lading for all inbound and outbound shipments.

  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned shipping associates.

  • Ensures all materials are picked, staged, and safely loaded.

  • Monitors employees to ensure that all inventory related transactions are properly completed in Oracle.

  • Sets team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leads.

  • Participates/leads Kaizen (continuous improvement events) in support of improvement initiatives.

  • Analyzes processes and procedures to implement cost reduction initiatives.

  • Observes health and safety regulations; maintain warehouse in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Ensures all OSHA safety requirements are adhered to.


  • Associate degree or equivalent experience required, Bachelor's degree a plus.


  • 3+ years shipping, warehousing and supervisory experience in a progressive manufacturing facility


  • Excellent leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals, motivate and manage conflict
  • Effective communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Good project management skills, including strong decision-making, problem-solving and strategic planning abilities
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills
  • In-depth understanding of industry and company best practices for the warehouse
  • Familiarity inventory control practices and logistics
  • Comfortable using inventory management software and other organizational computer applications (Oracle experience a plus)
