Position Requirements

Create bids, plans, and supervise the execution of company construction projects, specifically for our fence crews and log carpenters.

Sales and Customer Service

Put profitable jobs on the calendar.

• Schedule and visit prospective customers on-site to assess projects and sell our services.
• Formulate profitable pricing, and submit bids to prospective customers in a professional manner.
• Win enough jobs to efficiently employ our construction crews.

Once a bid is accepted, schedule it and procure resources

• Work with the Production Manager on any stocked inventory or manufacturing needs
• Procure any Special Order Inventory
• Ensure Equipment and Supplies are serviceable and available, including needed rental equipment
• Schedule any needed sub-contractors

When the day arrives, prepare our foremen for success.

• Provide work orders to the foreman, and provide him with a sufficient team to accomplish the work.
• Properly allocate the use of trucks, trailers and tractors
• Ensure that the foreman knows what we’ve been hired to do, and what success looks like. Sometimes this is simply issuing written work orders, and sometimes this requires going on-site to walk the job with the foreman.
• During the job, continue to support the foreman with anything that they may need.
• Maintain communication with the customer throughout this process.

After the job is completed, finish the process for billing.

• Ensure each job is done to our company’s high standard and to customer satisfaction.
• Understand what material was used, and that time was properly recorded.
• Collect all receipts and submit the “blue” to the Controller for billing.
• Review profitability to improve your bidding and learn.

Stay in close communication with the Production Manager throughout.

• You will be sharing manpower and other company resources.
• Assist him with inventory management.
• Ensure he understands what company inventory and manufacturing you need.
• Serve as his backup.

Other tasks

• Sell and provide expert customer service to our fencing and log customers.
• Maintain the construction calendar, communicating changes as needed to customers and sub-contractors
• Ensure utility locates are completed prior to starting a job.
• Be available for customer assistance in the showroom. Assist other divisions of the company when needed including log care, outdoor power equipment and rental.
• Keep a clean and inviting work area conducive to customer interaction.
• Learn and be knowledgeable of internal systems & processes.
• Recruit, train and develop up-and-coming employees.
• Contribute to an enjoyable work culture.
• Maintain good relationships with vendors
• Take pictures and keep anecdotes for marketing purposes.
• Keep an eye on safety, help foreman stay safe and ensure company safety policies are followed.

• Previous construction experience is a bonus but not required
