Sanitation & EH&S Team Lead, 1st shift

This position assists the Dept. Supervisor in leading and managing the team and the plant sanitation process. It also assists the Plant Manager in leading and championing a Safety Culture as Co-chairperson on the site Health and Safety (H&S) committee. Hours of the position are Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm, with overtime, weekends and covering for other schedules as needed.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Sanitation Lead Duties
-
Monitor the safety and productivity of sanitation employees
-
Monitor security of facilities during designated shift hours
-
Verify that equipment, processing & warehouse areas, grounds, walls and general environment are clean according to GMP standards; conduct deep dive sanitation investigations as needed to find and eliminate sources of contamination

Monitor compliance of sanitation processes and procedures, immediately correct or report if out of specification and complete non-conformance form

Coordinate staffing needs and communicate with Staffing Agencies

Assess skills and provide, or schedule, any training needs where deficient to be sure that employees understand how to set and adjust the equipment settings and all operational procedures

Participate, support and lead employees in the continuous improvement process
-
Oversee the sanitation processes and monitor the proper functioning of the equipment
-
Check the daily production schedule and complete appropriate on time setup for all equipment in the pre-weight, mixing, filling, and pack line area(s)

Notify QA to check sanitation effectiveness once all sanitation steps are completed. The process line can only be released to Production by QA.

Analyze Environmental, ATP and Allegan results data to review sanitation effectiveness; develop and implement corrective actions for improvement

Work closely with other departments (materials management, maintenance, processing, and quality) to meet requirements

Conduct or have team complete physical inventories
-
Dismantle or have team dismantle, clean, repair and reassemble equipment parts as needed
-
Develop and improve procedures, SOPs, and other instructions; oversee their application
-
Analyze the daily results, lead shift/team meetings to communicate quantitative and quality objectives and results
-
Assign resources based on objectives data and production constraints
-
Enter data and indicators for the daily department requirements
-
Communicate plant issues or activities to the proper departments and management
-
Assures all project requirements are properly scheduled
-
Rotate employees according to any safety or quality concerns
-
Manage and approve temp timecards as needed in the timekeeping system
-
Participates in Continuous Improvement Process

Follow all Quality policies & procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
-
Follow all Safety policies & procedures
-
Maintain regular, predictable attendance
-
Other duties as assigned
EH&S Site Lead
-
Conducts monthly safety audits
-
Presents audit findings to the site H&S Committee
-
Makes recommendations to the H&S Committee for training and site safety improvements
-
Complies audit findings into statistical reports and presents to Plant Manager
-
Conducts safety orientation for all new employees
-
Conducts annual safety refresher training
-
Monitor safe work practices of employees
-
Investigates all injuries, lost time incidents, near misses & property damage
-
Provides Admin Assistant with completed investigative reports
Pay is $28.00 per hour and up. Starting pay is commensurate with experience and education.

Required Education and Experience
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Computer skills and basic knowledge of MS Excel and Word
-
Mechanical Aptitude
-
Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English
-
2-5 years’ food manufacturing/sanitation experience
Preferred Education and Experience

Strong Analytical Skills

1-2 years’ experience in a leadership role
