Summary:   

Controls Supervisor supports Operations, Maintenance and Engineering by establishing and maintaining a robust controls structure and methodology. This role contributes to capital process by providing short-range and long-range capital plans, annual capital budgets by providing the controls and automation requirements and plans to the capital project process.   This role will continually Identify new technologies and execute controls projects to improve the overall competitive position of the facility.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains and upholds the plant controls standards
  • Manages the controls network topology and interface to the IT and business infrastructure
  • Develops controls architecture and methods
  • Develops and maintains software/program techniques
  • Supports maintenance troubleshooting
  • Supports the continuous improvement system by providing design methods and approaches afforded by automation in support of the Professional Maintenance and Early Management Pillars
  • Trains other members of the technical staff on standards, techniques and methodologies
  • Provides electrical, controls and instrumentation support for projects and new equipment installations
  • Aggressively identifies opportunities to improve plant performance through the application of new technology and/or improved reliability of current technology
  • Maintain CAD documentation of production equipment for the facility
  • Ability to train others in all aspects of PLC’s, programming, instrumentation, controls and vision systems.
  • Ability to debug new equipment and to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems.

Knowledge and Skill Requirement:

  • 20 years of experience with machine control and automation in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Electrical power and control experience with the ability to program and trouble shoot: the Allen Bradley family of PLC’s and interfaces, code dating equipment, Vision Systems, SPC, and related industrial hardware, programming and systems.
  • Must be extremely computer proficient.
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to support multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and able to work any shift.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, layout and instrumentation drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to react quickly and effectively to dynamic business conditions and motivate others to do the same.
  • Ability to organize work assignments, communicate expectations and follow up to ensure that work has been properly completed.
  • Ability to write correspondence, effectively present information to both internal and external individuals.

Travel: Approximate 0-5% travel required and ability to safely and effectively walk the facilities and grounds.
