Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a can-do attitude and self-motivation for participating in the development of a geo-distributed and highly available video platform. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining services that power Sangoma Meet, taking ownership of the code from all stages of development and deployment in a multi-cloud environment.

Your Role:

• Design and develop scalable distributed APIs and software, with an emphasis on security and reliability
• Use good analytical skills to understand performance indicators and optimize services and networks as required
• Manage redundant services and clusters that required high availability
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to the improvement of the designs and quality of code in the team

Your Background:

• 4-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in building scalable and redundant server-side software and APIs on Linux platform
• Knowledge of at least two of: Java, C, C++, Rust, Go
• Knowledge of at least one distributed source control tool (eg, git)
• Good understanding of WebSockets and HTTPS protocol
• Hands-on experience in installing and managing Linux-based servers
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Experience in open-source video conferencing solutions (eg, Jitsi)
• Experience with open-source telephony systems (eg, Freeswitch)
• Experience programming in C, C++ or Rust in concurrent or multi-threaded code
• Experience with relational databases and knowledge of SQL
