Job Details:
  • Position: Protestant Youth Coordinator.
  • Type: Part Time.
  • Location: 460 W Winters St, Scott AFB, IL 62225.
  • Job Summary: FAR Government, Inc. is looking to hire a Protestant youth coordinator to coordinate and implement youth programing as determined by the Wing Chaplain or designee and support all Scott AFB chapel services.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Must possess least two years’ experience as a youth minister director of religious education.
  • Provide written validation of their credentials as a Protestant lay leader on official letterhead by an official religious organization.
  • Must be able to provide a signed letter from a pastor/minister of their Protestant church indicating that they’re in good standing.

Duties:
  • Coordinate a program of religious education with the protestant RE coordinator and Wing Chaplain in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Air Force Chaplain corps for youth grades 7-12. Hours will include some normal duty hours (0730-1630), as well as some evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Twenty (20) hours of work per week on average.
  • Organize, plan, schedule, and publicize approved religious programs for youth. Execute a Protestant Youth Program that includes weekly youth group meetings, a monthly special event, and an annual retreat. Ensure attendance is taken for all events.
  • Conduct orientation and training workshops (as determined by the youth coordinator) throughout the year for all volunteers, program participants, and families.
  • Develop and submit an annual calendar of Youth events by 1 July for approval by the Wing Chaplain or designee. At initial on-set of contracts, the deliverable will be 30 days from start of employment.
  • Track and monitor youth volunteer hours. Coordinate with Protestant Religious Education Coordinator to produce monthly data and a year-end report concerning the Protestant Youth Program to include volunteer hours, attendance figures, funds, expenditures, and materials ordered.
  • Develop and maintain a continuity file with pertinent information of the Youth Program. File shall be maintained on the chapel shared drive and include comprehensive Youth plan, fund requests, volunteer, and attendance data.
  • Build referral network with local youth ministers of at least 3 denominations and 3 school districts to assess and address needs of military youth.
  • Plan and oversee special events to support the Youth Ministry program throughout the church year. These events may be in conjunction with local church Youth ministry programs.
  • Work in conjunction with the Protestant RE Coordinator and Wing Chaplain or designee to provide materials and curriculum for the Junior and Senior High youth.
  • Conduct, facilitate or assist with providing food for Youth Ministry activities and special events via purchase request.
  • Provide advising chaplain a biannual review of the program providing a summary of activity, trends and progress during the preceding year. Include information and suggestions regarding future program direction.
