Job Description

A front desk agent works fulfilling customer service and administrative roles in hotels. They welcome and orient new guests and issue room keys. Additionally, a front desk agent will manage and update information regarding room availability, rates, and available amenities. A front desk agent works to ensure an organized and friendly interaction between the hotel and guests.

Job Summary:

  • Communicate with the booking, housekeeping and maintenance departments to ensure prompt responses to guests' needs
  • Make reservations or appointments for guests who want to avail themselves of local entertainment or services
  • Answer guest calls and record details of each conversation for future follow-up
  • Meet and exceed guests' expectations by anticipating the services they might require and suggesting local venues
  • Maintain constant communication with guests in advance of weddings, corporate retreats and other in-house events to ensure we're prepared for them
  • Report any accidents or injuries to senior management staff immediately

Front Desk Representative Required Skills:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • 2+ years' front desk experience in the hospitality industry preferred
  • 1+ years' customer service experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

While the nightly stay hotel market works well for travelers with short term stay needs and the apartment market is very efficient for stays of six months to a year or longer, there really had not been affordable lodging for those that fall in the middle. The Extended Stay concept appealed to us because of this large unmet demand and due to the superior value it offers to those customers.
