Landscape Supervisor

Job Description

Reporting to the Facilities Director, the Landscape Supervisor will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the landscape area throughout the property. In this role, the Landscape Supervisor will coordinate and oversee the work of personnel in charge of plants, irrigation and any outdoor water features to promote a leading, aesthetically pleasing landscape transformation process that aligns with the Tribe’s vision. The Landscape Supervisor will be responsible for scheduling projects which include labor, equipment and materials to ensure maximum work, while practicing safety guidelines and quality standards. The individual selected for this role is expected to assist in championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that reflects and upholds the Tribal Community’s vision, mission and values.

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

1. Plans, directs, and leads the overall operation of the landscaping team to maintain a safe and aesthetically pleasing landscape which includes assigning, training and evaluating work.

2. Ensure the completion of daily and weekly routines, tasks and schedules by the assigned staff to maintain a clean and aesthetically pleasing landscape throughout the grounds of the facility.

3. Maintain the irrigation systems throughout the outdoor landscape of the facility and perform continuous research to ensure the most efficient use of water irrigation systems to make recommendations for upgrades.

4. Oversee, maintain and service indoor and outdoor water features, including the surrounding landscape which must be maintained to meet high quality standards.

5. Coordinate the requisition and purchase of supplies and equipment according to current landscape aesthetics plans, design and scope of work.

6. Provide professional leadership including planning, project management, scheduling, purchasing and replacement of equipment.

7. Interview and recommend qualified applicants for hiring purposes, appraise employee performance, conduct informal counseling on work issues, prepare documentation and improvement plans for deficiencies, and performance management.

8. Conduct daily inspections of the grounds around the facility, including walkways and entrances to identify areas for landscape and aesthetic improvement.

9. Communicate with the Facilities Direction on matters involving personnel and facilities in a current and timely manner.

10. Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of Landscape Experience.

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in leading, supervising, or managing teams.

  • Experience in methods and techniques of grounds maintenance and repair of irrigation systems.

  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/ experience requirements indicated above.

 

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
