GIS ADMINISTRATOROPEN UNTIL FILLEDSan Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) is the council of governments and transportation planning agency for San Bernardino County. SBCTA is responsible for cooperative regional planning and furthering an efficient multi-modal transportation system countywide. SBCTA serves the 2.1 million residents of San Bernardino County.As the County Transportation Commission, SBCTA supports freeway construction projects, regional and local road improvements, train and bus transportation, railroad crossings, call boxes, ridesharing, congestion management efforts and long-term planning studies. SBCTA administers Measure I, the half-cent transportation sales tax approved by county voters in 1989.ABOUT THE JOB:Under general direction, administers the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) of the agency, delivers GIS databases and map products in support of SBCTA programs and user agencies; maintains GIS hardware and software and performs transportation planning analyses and related work as required.Supervision Received and ExercisedReceives general supervision from the Director of Planning and Chief of Planning. May exercise functional or direct supervision over technical or professional staff. Class CharacteristicsThis is an advanced level class that independently performs the full range of GIS and transportation analysis tasks. The GIS Administrator works under limited supervision and is expected to perform the complete range of higher-level analytical work requiring considerable knowledge of GIS, SQL Server, transportation analysis and mapping practices. Positions at this level work independently, apply well developed technical and analytical knowledge and exercise judgment and initiative serving the agency's mission. This class is distinguished from the Director of Planning in that the latter has overall responsibility for all functions of the Planning Department and for developing, implementing, and interpreting public policy.
