Job Description

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible to the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental, health & safety programs for the assigned manufacturing location(s).  Reporting to the EHS Manager, the Coordinator will aid in the management of appropriate metrics and reports, development of systems and data management capabilities to support HS&E programs, and improve the understanding HS&E policies to all participants in the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in development, implementation, evaluation, and enforcement of the company’s environmental health and safety policies and programs for strict compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
  • Assist in facilitating safety committees/cross functional teams and projects. 
  • Assist with investigating injuries and incidents associated with the workplace, conducting root cause analysis, identifying corrective and preventive actions, prepare reports of investigation results.
  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA & MEDQ standards and how those standards are to be applied to the facility. This includes audits/inspections to identify potential hazardous conditions and safety hazards with equipment, materials, and maintain records of audit results.
  • Play a major role in the monitoring and administration of ISO 14001: 2015 Environmental and ISO 45001 Safety Management System within prescribed guidelines as set forth by the international standards including in the assistance as Environmental Management Representative.
  • Coordinate and/or provide safety training on appropriate EHS matters as assigned and as required by law. Ensuring training records are maintained and reported.
  • Monitor and track required EHS metrics for sites and report/communicate as required. Support problem-solving, improvement action planning as necessary when targets are not met.
  • Provide guidance/ support/ assistance to the Human Resources Function in relation to their administration of site’s First – Aid Responder, Personal Protective Equipment (Safety shoes, safety glasses, etc.) and Workers Compensation programs.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and/or Safety Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety Management or comparable experience
  • Minimum of three (3) or more years’ experience relevant EHS experience.
  • Prior experience must include ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (formerly OHSAS 18001) EMS certification.
  • Must be knowledgeable of federal and state regulatory safety codes and standards such as OSHA/EPA or OSHA/DEQ, and other non-regulatory safety standards.
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Level Certificate preferred.
  • Must be proficient in EHS related software applications, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google applications.
