YOUR IMPACT Under the direct supervision of the Director of Development & Communications, the Associate Director of Development, Institutional Partnerships will, in collaboration with the Director of Development and Communications, conceive of and execute the institutional funder component of the organization’s annual development plan. The incumbent will manage a portfolio of top-tier institutional funder relationships and support the Director of Development and CEO with stewardship plans for their portfolios. With support from the Grant Writer, The Associate Director of Development, Institutional Partnerships is responsible for submission of proposals and reports to institutional funders and mission-aligned partners to secure grants for existing programs. This position requires a candidate with a strong back ground in grant writing and submitting proposals. With oversight from the executive leadership team, they will conceive of and launch new initiatives to help the agency achieve its near and long-term strategic priorities. Job requirements Preferred requirements include but are not limited to: Education · Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree(s) desirable. Experience · Minimum five years’ experience managing institutional funder relationships and submitting private and public funding proposals and reports. IT Competence · Strong competency in computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Outlook, electronic file management and various email applications. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software desirable. Special Knowledge · Familiarity with regional and local foundations, corporations and government entities is required. Skills and personal qualities: · Proven ability to be highly accurate and have strong attention to detail. · Demonstrated, excellent communication skills both written and oral along with strong business acumen. · Proven ability to exercise good judgment and sound decision making under normal and stressful conditions. · Resilient, positive and solutions based approach to challenges; ability to identify and resolve issues without direction when needed. · Ability to conduct business in alignment with agency values, a high level of professionalism, integrity and ethics. · Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment with excellent initiative. · Excellent organizational and prioritization skills required. · Ability to travel between Agency sites and event locations. · Must have excellent interpersonal, relationship building and leadership skills; must be able to work with a variety of constituents, including but not limited to volunteers, donors, staff and vendors of diverse backgrounds and skills. Essential functions of the position Grants, Contracts and Partnerships Management · Strategize and execute organization’s institutional funder-relations plan, in alignment with Samaritan House’s strategic priorities and in partnership with Director of Development and Communications · Identify, cultivate, solicit and forecast annual institutional support · Maintain grant writing calendar for new and recurring proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other related deadlines. Communicate and coordinate upcoming deadlines with appropriate staff as needed. · With support from the Grant Writer, research and write grant proposals, letters of inquiry and reports for new and existing agency programs and general operations. · Lead conversations and coordinate with key management and program staff on new funding strategies as well as grant implementation. · Conceive funding strategies for programs, general operations, and new initiatives. · Manage portfolio of top-tier institutional funder relationships; conceive and execute stewardship plan for each · Support CEO and Director of Development in design and execution of stewardship plans for assigned institutional funder portfolios · Plan and conduct external meetings with current and prospective institutional funders as well as key community partners · In partnership with relevant executive team members, regularly meet with community partners to explore and develop potential collaborative funding opportunities · Oversee maintenance of accurate and current records in LiveImpact database and manage progress via Campaign Status Report · Ensure organization’s institutional funding is sustainable, diverse, and aligned with strategic priorities · Initiate and facilitate monthly Resource Strategy Group meetings Staff Management Manage, train, motivate, and supervise Grant Writer’s and volunteers’ workload and priorities, assuring strong productivity and quality of work: · Recruit, retain and mentor Grant Writer and volunteers · Monitor workloads and staffing requirements · Motivate Grant Writer and volunteers to achieve department objectives; provide development opportunities to Grant Writer and volunteers to enhance skills or accomplish tasks Employment terms and benefits This position is regular full time, exempt; Work hours for this position are generally Mon-Fri 8:30am to 5:30pm and as needed will include weekday evenings, weekend days/evenings, and Holidays as required.
