The Arts and Innovation Department at Salesianum seeks a dynamic teacher for a full-time opening beginning October 2020. Ideal candidates will be prepared to effectively engage students in a variety of courses across multiple computer science platforms and be proficient in multiple coding languages. Preference will be given to candidates who possess the content knowledge and creativity necessary to build a computer science program that is student-centered, relentlessly improving, and constantly evolving to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world. Responsibilities for this unique position include but are not limited to: Demonstrate a passion and expertise in the teaching of computer science, robotics, and STEM technologies. Evolve and aspire to current trends on teaching computer science, including the CSTA curriculum, computer science resources, and possible computer science elective courses, such as cyber security. Develop and lead an authentic curriculum with topics relevant to current industry trends and demonstrate proficiency in languages that are industry best practices. Create a strong vertical pathway for students interested in computer science and related fields and explore a partnership with local practitioners and national organizations. Teach computer science classes for 9th-12th grade students. Courses may include: Innovation Seminar, Computer Science Principles (Python), AP Computer Science Principles and Programming (Java). Collaborate with other members of a multidisciplinary department to engage Salesianum students with a vibrant curriculum focused on art, innovation, and the creative process.
