We are seeking a Controller with excellent leadership and communication skills. You'll manage an accounting team of five and own all accounting results and processes. Our ideal candidate will build a world-class accounting, treasury and FP&A organization aligned with SageWater's growth projections. Based in our Alexandria, VA corporate headquarters, the opportunity has consistent access to the SageWater leadership team including CFO, CGO, COO and CEO. SageWater is blend of a founder owned and private equity backed company, providing exciting opportunities for a person in this position.  This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone looking to take that next step from Assistant Controller to a Controller level position.



·       Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes including preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP for presentation to owners, investors, and external parties

·       Be a key leader in a new ERP implementation

·       Lead and develop the accounting team, which includes accounts payable, general ledger, project accounting, consolidations, and compliance.

·       Develop accurate and timely KPIs, cash flow forecasting, analytics including job cost reporting to support management decision making

·       Assist with due diligence for M&A opportunities

·       Enhance and monitor internal controls and maintains adequate documentation of all processes with a goal to move towards compliance with Sarbanes Oxley level requirements.

·       Manage the external audit and tax relationships

·       Perform technical accounting analysis under new GAAP accounting standards as accounting standards change and evolve.

·       Ensure local, state, and federal sales and use, property and income tax filings are completed timely

·       Demonstrate initiative and creativity in achieving results.



·       BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA required

·       Advanced excel skills

·       Extensive knowledge of US GAAP

·       Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management and communication skills

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·       Flexibility to work within constantly changing priorities and occasional changing schedules with enthusiasm
