Print Production Manager

SagaCity Media is seeking a self-motivated, meticulous teammate to fill an immediate opening for Production Manager in our Portland, OR, division.

You are a balanced left-brain/right-brain thinker, comfortable being in either a creative or practical mind space, who can speak Art Director or Account Executive without missing a beat, all while performing a meaningful role managing workflows for SagaCity’s award-winning travel, tourism, and lifestyle publications.

· Oversee schedules for assigned projects and ensure prompt communication of changes to internal and external partners

· Host monthly production status meetings with the editorial, sales, and art teams, with more frequent touch bases as required

· Manage paper orders for assigned SagaCity Media projects

· Track arrival of all advertising materials and preflight each file to ensure it meets project specifications

· Build and maintain a page break to paginate each assigned issue, ensuring that page placement meets the needs of the editorial, sales, and art teams

· Lay out print advertisements (some templated, some from scratch) with supplied materials, as needed

· Preflight each complete project in accordance with printer standards, build final print-ready PDFs, and upload files to printer

· Oversee creation of digital edition (Flipbook) for each assigned title

· In conjunction with Audience Development and/or the Publisher, evaluate and approve assigned SagaCity Media production invoices including those for paper, printing, and printer-related freight

· Manage printer relations

· Provide frontline management of quality and distribution complaints, escalating as necessary

· Support fellow Production staff as needed

Skills and assets

· Excellent communication and customer service skills are mandatory

· Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines is essential

· In-depth knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat, familiarity with Microsoft Excel, and experience with prepress processes are required. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator skills are desirable. Enfocus Pit Stop proficiency is a bonus.
