Position: Controller

REPORTS TO: Executive Vice President/CFO

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of all functions of the accounting department and assurance that internal controls are in place and effectively being followed.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Plan, direct and manage accounting, billing, collections, accounts payable, and payroll operations of the company.

  1. Implement necessary internal controls and assure all internal controls are being followed and are effective.

  1. Responsible for the preparation and/or review of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company's established reporting policies.

  1. Responsible for working with the company tax firm to prepare and pay all applicable federal and state/local income and franchise tax returns. Also responsible for preparing and filing internally various other tax returns, including sales & use, property, and gross receipts taxes.

  1. Responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly board meeting financial package.

  1. Manage various accounting, tax, payroll, and/or customer audits.

  1. Work with the Board of Directors, management, and/or operations personnel to determine ad hoc financial reporting needs

  1. Assist EVP/CFO with banking and treasury functions, including forecasting short-term and long-term cash needs and managing debt.

  1. Seek out opportunities for process improvements and staffing development within the department, and implement said plans.

  1. Responsible for maintaining current accounting/project management software, including managing relationship with vendor and managing the process for periodic upgrades and testing.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred
  • CPA highly preferred
  • Construction experience preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
