Stamping and Body Weld Engineering Specialist

PURPOSE:
Initially will lead the establishment and ramp-up of manufacturing at a large, high-volume, cutting-edge automotive manufacturing operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion
- Collaborate with international team members
- Support/initiate the development and execution of projects to improve Stamping and Body Weld KPI’s (Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Cost, People, Environment)
- Work with production and maintenance departments to solve chronic problems and implement countermeasure activity
- Support development and execution of annual plans aligned with company and department objectives
- Introduce new stamping and welding line technology as required.
- Understand the technical aspects of stamping and welding operations and continuously improve process control methods
- Support and lead problem solving as required for design, manufacturing, supplied parts, and equipment/process
- Be a technical resource for production, maintenance, and tool & die as needed to support manufacturing operations
- Coordinate and manage supplier/contractor activity to include job scope, expectations, safety, and schedules
- Foster two-way communication at all levels to ensure real issues are known
- Conduct all activities with safety as top priority
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the department
- Ability to work outside of typical business hours and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience
- Plant level experience in manufacturing environment (new model introduction preferred)
- Knowledge of sheet metal stamping, weld technology, and joining processes
- Hands-on experience in automotive technology or high-volume manufacturing
- Knowledge of computer related systems to support manufacturing (3D modeling, CMM, metrology tools, formability analysis, etc.)
- Project management or change point management experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to be on feet for 8 hours or more
- Must be able to sit long hours at a desk
- Must be able to work weekends and extended shifts as needed
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
- Location: Madison, AL
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Core Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekly Overtime: As needed.
- Weekend Work: As needed.
- Assignment Start: ASAP
