FMEA Quality Engineer

This position is responsible for providing Task Force support onsite at an automotive OEM or supplier facility. Provide transparency to and from supplier or sequencer regarding delivery topics. Document areas for improvement and create actionable data on systemic bottleneck issues for management decisions. Give feedback to provided contacts regarding needed escalation as well as daily communications.

  • Focus on correct (quantity and timing first, secondly quality) shipments to OEM/Customer.
  • Backwards reviewing the chain of processes towards shipment with looking at escalation process and helping to manage data-driven escalation (min/max. levels, forecast, 2-hr reviews, potential impacts).
  • Review and ensure documentation of processes; support and drive supplier team onsite to follow the documented procedures and standardized process.
  • Review manufacturing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure that proper training is completed to understand and implement the improved processes.
  • Maintain the Qualification & Training matrix and coordinate tasks among team members.
  • Investigate discrepancy issues (e.g., updated numbers on boards do not match inventory levels, shipments are not being calculated for inventory, WIP is not being updated, etc.) which result in wrong or misleading data on order process; provide support and ensure escalation if necessary.
  • Provide additional oversight and supervision of the shop floor and related processes.
  • Coordinate LOP list and hold supplier team accountable during hours of operation.
  • Provide reports to final customer via routine conference call meetings.
  • Identify LEAN opportunities and make suggestions or look for methods of improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to support customer and business demands.

  • Knowledge of FMEA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field of study.
  • Minimum of three (3) years professional experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably within the automotive industry) in areas such as Logistics, Capacity Management, or Quality.
  • Experience or certification in planning, monitoring, and/or implementing projects focused on Logistics or a closely related field of manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Access and Project software.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, such as SAP software.

  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

  • Salary, exempt. Good attendance and the ability to work a flexible schedule is essential for this position.
