POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for business and financial management of the parish. Applies professional skills and knowledge of several specialized fields including accounting, development, fundraising, facilities management, and communications to perform work without specific directions. Uses considerable independent judgment. Conducts regular contact and communication with parish groups, volunteers and the community. Oversees Facilities Maintenance Manager and custodians. Collaborates with and advises Pastor in fiscal management. Requires degree in accounting or equivalent, with experience in personnel supervision, plant maintenance, and directing communication and information systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

I. Financial Management

A. Develops budget and works with bookkeeper to generate financial reports.

B. Responsible for capital campaigns, annual tithing drive, Annual Diocesan Appeal and fundraising.

C. Lead grant writer for parish and school; works with principal and pastor to secure federal, state and local grants.

D. Reviews invoices and approves payments.

E. Ex officio member of the Finance Council; provides monthly reports, sets agenda and attends monthly meetings. Provides appropriate follow-up information.

F. Attends quarterly Tri-Council meetings and bi-weekly Leadership meetings. Attends monthly Diocesan business manager meetings. Attends regionalization meetings.

G. Authorized signer on bank accounts. Makes deposits.

H. Develops and updates parish weekend collection policy and trains volunteers; oversees money counters.

I. Establishes and oversees credit card policy.

J. Investigate and process property and liability insurance claims.

K. Summons police for any criminal activity or property damage; files police reports.

L. Monitor church and school security cameras (50).

M. Develops policy for public assistance requests and approves gift cards or other assistance as needed.

II. Human Resources (church only)

A. Assists pastor in hiring and dismissing of parish personnel.

B. Provides onboarding materials to new employees.

C. Manage benefits programs.

D. Ensures Virtus training of appropriate personnel and volunteers, conducts quarterly audits and ensures recordkeeping.

E. Conducts exit interviews with employees.

F. Investigates accidents and fills out injury forms for Worker's Compensation.

G. Seeks legal council regarding the development and execution of HR policies.

H. Develops and updates job descriptions.

III. Tuition

A. Works with pastor and Finance Council to establish tuition rates and fees for members and non-members.

B. Manage Catholic Tuition Organization and Kremer Foundation applications.

IV. Buildings and Grounds

A. Oversees Facilities Maintenance Manager

B. Works with Principal to ensure compliance of licensed childcare center.

C. Establishes policy for hall rental and manage rental requests.

D. Ensures parish center is adequately supplied and makes purchases as needed.

E. Reviews and signs contracts with vendors.

F. Assist Facilities Maintenance Manager in supervising full-time and volunteer maintenance workers; establishes, schedules and oversees snow removal teams.

G. Work with Maintenance Manager to establish Buildings and Grounds Committee and holds regular meetings. Establishes safety committee and holds routine meetings.

H. Sets security door schedule and programming. Issues key cards and oversees physical keys for all buildings on campus.

I. Collects certificates of liability insurance forms from vendors.

J. Works with Facilities Maintenance Manager to ensure fire equipment and fire system panel is operational and routinely serviced and monitored.

K. Works with Facilities Maintenance Manager to oversee major capital equipment purchases for church and school.

V. Communications and Marketing

A. Maintains communication with parish groups i.e. Pastoral Council, Board of Education, Rosary Society, Saint Vincent Depaul.

B. Develops policy for Welcoming/Hospitality Committee.

C. Monitors and provides posts for website and Facebook.

D. Assists Parish Secretary with notices on parish video display monitors.

E. Provides financial notices and updates in the bulletin and EConnection communications.

F. Available for Spanish translation to assist school parents and parishioners.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Knowledge of building concepts.

· Understanding of budgets and financial reports.

· Basic computer skills using e-mail, Microsoft Office software and related programs.

· Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Ability to speak Spanish a plus but not required.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelors degree in business administration, or a similar field is preferred.

· Previous experience a plus.

· Experience with working within an established budget to track expenses.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Oversee Facilities Maintenance Manager, custodian(s) and cleaning volunteers.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods standing and walking.

· Must be physically able to climb ladders, kneel, or bend.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time on occasion.

Must pass background check and be Virtus trained as part of the Protecting God's Children program

of the Diocese of Des Moines.
