A Day in the Life of:

As a member of our team, you will report to the Project Manager. You will ensure that the Defense Supply Center of Richmond has adequate coverage to monitor, track and dispatch appropriate Police, Fire and EMS units based on information provided by telephone, Corporate Protection supervisors, radio transmissions, alarm systems and walk-ins. You will also provide onsite supervision and coordination of activities in the dispatch area. Your people skills will come in handy and will help you to maintain fantastic professional relationships with your fellow team members and those that we serve.

  • A competitive salary ($25.00 per hour) PLUS Sign-on Bonus - $1,000

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform in the absence of the Project Manager (PM) and will meet with the PM on a weekly basis
  • Monitor and review all dispatch calls entered in CAD and otherwise, daily events, and training, to ensure optimal performance, integrity, and professionalism of all dispatchers
  • Develop and ensure there is adequate staffing in compliance with contract, approve leave, handle call ins by utilizing the Humanity scheduling program/application, and monitors TimeWorks
  • Conduct and/or coordinate Quarterly Training
  • Ensure monthly reports, such as, Police/Fire stats, Fire & ES Call Processing Times, and CAD Discrepancy report, are completed with efficiency and accuracy
  • Review Incident Reports and Call Validation forms daily
  • Identify and report ECC trends that may affect response times or daily operations to the Project Manager
  • Responsible for new employee orientation and on-boarding
  • Review SOAR365 and ECC SOPS, computer programs/applications, radio procedures, equipment, work order procedures, with new employees
  • Ensure new employees are familiar with Police, Fire, EMS, and Physical Security roles and responsibilities
  • Acts as liaison between dispatchers, PD, FD, and Physical Security, in the absence of the Project Manager and while on duty

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Completion of required Basic Telecommunicator Course, Communication Training Officer, Communications Supervisor, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and Telecommunicator I/II
  • Prefer supervisory experience as an Emergency Services Dispatcher or other supervisory role
  • Ability to type 30 words per minute (wpm)
  • Able to work rotating hours, weekends/holidays and overtime as required
  • Ability to pass federal security and maintain requirements
  • Great organizational skills
  • Strong technical skills and able to operate and maintain many different computer and alarm systems
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communications, with the ability to complete all required documentation
