SUMMARY:

• SJS Executives, LLC dba SJS Industrial (SJS), a federal contracting business located in Virginia Beach, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant who is familiar with QuickBooks as well as Payroll/Timekeeping/HR systems such as ADP Workforce Now (most preferred), Deltek Time and Expense, etc., within the context of the government contracting industry.
• The ideal candidate has worked for a federal contracting company before, has used QuickBooks daily for three (3) or more years, and understands how to perform a variety of accounting support functions such as Accounts Payable and Receivable, entering General Ledger entries, reconciling, and cross-checking financial data, preparing financial statements like Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss Statements, Aging of Accounts Payable and Receivable, Cash Flow statements, etc.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
 

• Monthly cash and payroll account reconciliation
• General Ledger account maintenance and control
• Financial statements preparation and reporting (monthly)
• Bank and credit card account reconciliation
• Budget preparation and reporting
• Conduct and support internal audits and special projects
• Support monthly report editing and distribution
• Provide support to other accounting areas (Accounts Payable, Payroll, etc.) for Ledger and business transactional issues
• Assist with monthly reports creation and distribution re: customer accounts and revenue, financial performance of specific company departments, divisions, or contracts, etc.
• Additional tasks may include assisting the accounting department with special assignments and responding to accounting and payroll inquiries from other company departments or outside entities like the external CPA firm
• Related tasks and duties as assigned by the Controller or the company officers.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Past accounting work history within one or more federal contracting businesses and basic familiarity with DCAA concepts
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field
• Three (3) or more years of recent experience using QuickBooks for daily accounting functions
• Strong Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet skills
• Familiarity with a Payroll/HR/Timekeeping platform like ADP Workforce Now (most preferred), Deltek Time and Expense, or similar
• CPA preferred, but not required
• Strong work ethic with the ability to handle tough deadlines when they occasionally occur; ability to collaborate well within a fast-paced accounting team
• Must have a clean record and be able to successfully pass a drug test and thorough background check that spans beyond 7 years because of access to sensitive government and financial Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
