ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educate potential consumers, patients, medical providers, SIHF Healthcare employees and the community on the availability of insurance, including the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and the expanded Medicaid Program as well as options under the Health Insurance Marketplaces.
Assist consumers with the enrollment process through paper applications or the internet based enrollment system.
Conduct outreach activities (health fairs, community programs, etc.) related to Get Covered Illinois and Health Insurance Marketplace.
Conduct presentations and enrollment efforts with community groups and small business related to Get Covered Illinois and Health Insurance Marketplace.
Work with SIHF Healthcare staff to identify uninsured health center patients and provide education and enrollment services.
Participate in continuous quality improvement processes to efficiently meet production targets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read and interpret documents or manuals pertaining to Get Covered Illinois and the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to interpret and communicate a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables and in standardized situations.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
Flexible in rapidly changing environment.
Committed to quality improvement and a team orientated model.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite.
Basic knowledge of medical insurance.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Bilingual/Spanish speaking desired.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An Associates Degree from an accredited college or university or a minimum of two (2) years work experience is required. Successfully complete the Illinois Assister Program Certification and additional certifications required by the Federal/State Regulations.
Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.
Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday - dayshift. Weeknight evening hours (no later than 9pm), Saturdays or overtime may be necessary occasionally. Occasional attendance at off-site meetings will be required.
