Senior Accountant

SHR Talent is partnering with a client in Nashville, TN in its search for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing daily general accounting functions to properly state assets and liabilities and record revenue and expenses. As the Senior Accountant, you will report to the Director of Accounting and will ensure necessary journal entries are recorded, accurately, timely, and in completion, and you will prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations to verify the integrity of financial results.

To be successful in this role as the Senior Accountant, you should possess enhanced mathematical, data analytic and reasoning skills, the ability to manage large data sets and prioritize work, knowing when necessary to escalate concerns to management, and excellent project management and time management skills.

An ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant role is someone who has an excellent level of personal organization, is highly detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple assignments promptly and effectively, a demonstrated ability and willingness to make decisions using sound and accurate judgment, and the ability to work calmly in a fast-paced team environment while effectively managing multiple projects, adapting quickly and learning new tasks independently.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly entries, financial records, account analyses and reconcile the general ledger
• Prepare or review detailed monthly variance analyses, verifying the integrity of monthly financial results
• Prepare detailed account reconciliations, develop complex models to support journal entries, create ad hoc financial analyses
• Assist in maintaining detailed internal control documentation that supports preparation of original work and review of subordinate work
• Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and control enhancements as needed, ensuring all accounting policies and procedures are followed
• Assist accounting leadership in training and developing staff accountants
• Define and implement continuous improvement of financial and operational processes
• Identify and implement self-audit programs to drive quality and reporting improvements
• Develop, assess, and implement new systems, procedures and controls as needed
• Define processes and provide operational support in, ensuring standard procedures are documented and followed
• Analyze financial data, report trends, and identify root causes of issues
• Collaborate with business owners in developing and communicating recommendations for improvement actions
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent degree, or related work experience
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) candidate, a plus
• 2 – 5 years of experience with audit or general accounting
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and OneStream, a plus
