Role: Lead Software Engineer, Site Reliability Client Industry: Retail Location: San Francisco, CA Interview Process: 2 rounds, first 1-hour technical interview via ZOOM with hiring manager and second is 2-hour interview with the team This is a Lead Java Software Engineer role for the client's Site Reliability team: - Senior Software Engineer ready to step into Lead role, and/or Lead Software Engineer experience - Strong analytical skills, understanding how applications work - Strong trouble shooting skills to be able to triage as issues come up - Technical environment: UNIX/LINUX, Web technologies (apache, tomcat, java, etc.), App Dynamics or other monitoring tools, DevOps tools like Jenkins, rundeck, puppet, Jira, svn/git. - Project team needs resources to help with the testing environment, understands how the site works, supporting the application itself, which is already set up, and understanding the pieces that make it work - how does the application connect to Sterling, what backend services are associated, etc. - Project has an offshore testing team - this person would work normal business hours as they ramp up, but would need this person to be flexible as there would likely be a need for this person to be available after hours when the offshore team is testing Overview: As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer, you will support eCommerce production operations on the eCommerce Support team as an engineer who solves problems at root cause. You already enjoy solving problems with code, which is why you're a balanced engineer, at home both in application code written by others, as well as designing your own app from scratch. Your documentation and communication skills are above par, and you have prior experience working in a production support capacity as a full-stack, Site Reliability, Production Operations, similar engineer. Primary Skills : Requirements / Qualifications: - Strong full stack, Java Lead experience or Senior, 7 years of experience ready to step into Lead capacity (ability to lead a technical team of interdisciplinary peers toward issue resolution) - Experience with customer facing and high performing websites. eCommerce experience is a plus. - Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing log analysis, application performance management (APM), real user monitoring (RUM), developer tools, and localhost testing - Experience providing hands-on monitoring as well as authoring monitoring and alerting using multiple toolsets - Demonstrable history of production operations issue management and response - History of identifying and designing automation to eliminate repetitive tasks - Exemplary practice of documenting findings, providing evidence - Experience writing standard operating procedures and rigorous adherence to same - Demonstrable history of production operations issue management and response - Collaborate with internal support and engineering teams and 3rd party vendors on problems and solutions - Strong organizational skillset and ability to track multiple issues to resolution - Ability to lead a technical team of peers toward issue resolution - Experience utilizing issue/workflow ticket tracking systems - History of acting as a subject matter expert and training peers and stakeholders - B.S. degree in CS or commensurate experience
