The Bodyguard Instructor (BI) reports to the Program Manager (PM) and provides intermittent instructional support to the Worldwide Security Training Program. The BI is responsible for managing assigned delivery tasks and team oversight within the confines of organizational policies and procedures and in accordance with the specified contract / task order requirements. The BI is also responsible for providing employee and customer support and performing all operational support tasks associated with the Program while on location of the specific task.
- Provide on-location liaison regarding all aspects of training and accept and follow any specific instruction provided by the COR.
- Liaise with designated personnel on local logistics (e.g. internet access, transportation to/from training site, availability of and access to break and meal facilities, local security briefings or requirements, etc.).
- Coordinate with the PM and designated personnel in cases where external factors may disrupt or affect course scheduling and performance (e.g. inclement weather, student absences, holiday observance, etc.).
- Assist with classroom set-up/preparation and break down.
- Assist in identifying or locating training space for capstone practical exercises and/or operational assessments.
- Ensure accountability and serviceability of course contractor furnished equipment (CFE) and government furnished equipment (GFE) prior to and following training courses and notify the PM and designated personnel of any discrepancies.
- Conduct classroom instruction, presentations, exercises, and performance assessments in accordance with the guidelines and directives.
- Ensure only current, approved training materials (lesson plans, participant handouts, videos, case studies, etc.) are used in course delivery.
- Assist in day-to-day operational activities as reflected in the program of instruction.
- Assist with drafting the end of course review for submission.
- Assist in the administration of pre/post knowledge surveys utilizing the approved format.
- Complete skills evaluation forms and submit to the lead instructor upon conclusion of exercises.
- Assist in the administration of course critiques utilizing the approved format.
- As directed, return or destroy all excess U.S. government provided training materials, including course CDs, electronic or other media and ensure that all downloaded materials are deleted at the end of the course.
- As required, coordinate logistics for off-site or commercially procured training sites, transportation, and meals.
- Maintain high level of professionalism outside of normal training hours, and, during interaction with U.S. government personnel, course participants and training venue officials.
- Use Microsoft products in the preparation, delivery, and synopsis of training courses.
- Provides direct instruction in their specialty including, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Mission planning
- Surveillance and counter-surveillance
- Vehicle emergencies
- Command post operations
- Radio communications
- Formations and responsibilities
- Arrivals and departures
- Attack response
- Motorcade operations
- Protective Security Operations
- Use of Force and defensive tactics
- Tactical medical instruction
- First aid
- Provide timely reporting to include, but not limited to, the following:
- Arrival Report A brief message noting safe arrival of all instructors to overseas locations or all participants to domestic locations. This report shall describe the status of equipment and course materials, any exceptions, and readiness to proceed with training as scheduled. The arrival report is due upon the arrival of personnel.
- Incident Report Report as soon as practical any information that needs immediate attention, including but not limited to an injury or unauthorized absence of an instructor or participant, or any other event that might negatively affect training and/or bilateral relations with the partner nation. Verbal incident reports shall be followed within 24 hours with a written incident or situation report noting actions taken or in progress and outcome.
- End of Course Report - Delivered electronically to DS/IP/OPO, the COR, and Regional Security Officer (RSO) or designee in the format provided and shall include a skills evaluation of the students in hard skills courses completed by the instructors.
- Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this position requires U.S. Citizenship status.
- Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of full-time instructional experience as a protective operations specialist.
- Must have successfully completed a minimum of eighty (80) hours of training in adult learning and/or instructional techniques.
- Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of operational experience related to the area of instruction.
- Must have successfully completed a medical first responder course (e.g., Red Cross First Aid, TCCC, Combat Life Saver, etc.) within the last three (3) years.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast paced environment
- Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented with the ability to maintain high standards for quality of work and professional growth
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong working knowledge and experience providing day to day instructional support on OCONUS Department of State professional services and training contracts is highly desired
- Be willing to travel worldwide, to including developing countries to perform duties.
- Be willing to travel to U.S. training sites to perform duties.
- Be at least 21 years of age at the time of hiring.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued from a state within the US.
- Possess and maintain a valid passport granted by the Department of State.
- In the case of military service, any separation must have been under honorable conditions, if applicable.
- Complete successful annual medical and illegal drug screening.
- Complete successful initial psychological screening.
