VP of Travel & Event Management

The VP of Travel & Sourcing will be responsible for strategic procurement sourcing with a focus on corporate travel. You will help design and manage the company's travel policy, travel arrangements, assist with choosing the best corporate travel agency for the business, organize and monitor travel expenses, and look out for the well-being of business travelers. The individual will monitor travel activity and programs and will create, maintain, and enforce travel policies according to the company’s needs.
In addition to managing the travel program, the individual will be responsible for ad hoc strategic sourcing responsibilities based on the needs of the procurement department.
Responsibilities:
- Implement a policy for corporate travel
- Manage relationships with travel agencies and vendors
- Provide concierge service for Executive and group bookings
- Manage the Egencia platform (user profiles, filters, partners, etc.)
- Negotiate rates with airlines, hotels, and other travel partners to reduce costs
- Beginning with low-hanging/high-volume opportunities, create bespoke travel savings (such as specific hotels near HQ)
- Own, Analyze, and Manage travel spending to change behavior and customize our program
- Provide advice on travel documents, insurance, import/export regulations, etc.
- Own compliance in all aspects of travel procedures
- Plan and manage itineraries and arrange accommodations and other travel services for customers of SBM Site Services
- Compute the cost of travel and accommodations and work with C-Level to ensure they are aware of the lowest-cost choices
- Print or request transportation carrier tickets and communicate itineraries to internal customers
- Follow up on actual rates billed to ensure accuracy
- Research and identify the least expensive methods for booking airfare
- Publish weekly and monthly travel reports showing top expenses as well as “out of guideline” conditions
- Use Corporate credit card online system, work with employees to ensure expenses are within guidelines and/or justified/approved by proper management levels
- Contribute to all transition conference calls to better understand upcoming travel needs
- Provide auditing of travel requests for compliance with SBM guidelines
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or a related field from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
