Performs a range of duties within the accounting department including assisting division directors with grant and contract financial requirements and assisting with the development of the agency’s annual budget.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Rate is DOE
- Performs monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Prepares monthly journal entries.
- Assists the division directors and program/department managers in assuring compliance with financial requirements with grants and contracts.
- Responsible for grant and contract financial reporting.
- Monthly meetings with division directors and department managers to review grant expenditures, grant closeouts and budget revisions.
- Communicates with funding sources regarding grant and contract financial transactions.
- Develops cash flow projections and coordinates, tracks and follows up on requests for funds.
- Responsible for updating payroll codes and chart of accounts for grants and contracts.
- Assists with the completion of the monthly allocations as required by the grants and contracts.
- Assists with grantor program audits, monitoring and sites reviews.
- Assists the controller with the annual audit and schedules.
- Works with the controller with the development of the agency’s annual budget.
- Other duties as assigned by the controller or CFO.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to grasp, type, see, talk, hear, and lift and carry 35 pounds of weight by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner. This position will also be performing physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling materials.
- Occasionally performs sedentary activities that require sitting for long periods and repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms for handling, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
- Must be in good general health and free from serious physical, mental health and/or substance abuse problems.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or hours vary with location. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- State and federal background checks, including fingerprints, may be required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or business related discipline at the discretion of the hiring manager) plus two years of experience with computer accounting/budgeting/job-costing.
- Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance.
- Proven ability and willingness to be self-directed in problem solving and decision-making and perform basic assignment with little or no direct supervision while also working effectively as a team member.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to comply with HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations.
- Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience with federal/state/municipal grants/contracts.
- Previous experience in nonprofit fund accounting.
- Agency recommends annual TB screening and physical as part of employee’s personal wellness plan (Recommendation – Not a requirement of this position)
