Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, and wrap around services. What qualifications are required for this position?
You Are Also:
A team player, detailed-oriented, and analytical.
Someone with 3+ years of accounting and budgeting experience.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Knowledgeable in Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel (v-lookup, sums, etc), and Google Sheets.
Experienced in Non-profit and grant compliance.
Experience reading and understanding contract/grant requirements.
Someone with excellent written and communication skills.
Someone who can adapt well to a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
What You Will Do
You will report directly to the Controller and be a key player in invoicing our funders for revenue reimbursement. You will partake in developing and improving ongoing controls and processes to ensure financials are accurate and fairly presented. This position will be a key liaison between our internal and external partners in overseeing and managing several of our state and locally funded grants.
Responsibilities include
Oversee grant contracts and invoicing requirements, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Prepare reimbursable invoices for various funders; this includes conducting research and validation of program spending and purchase orders (POs), performing various calculations, and compiling all supporting documentation.
Perform financial analysis and expense forecast to ensure successful spenddown of grants.
Plan and forecast headcount expense absorptions and allocations among several grants.
Assist with annual financial and grant audits.
Collaborate with the Senior FP&A Manager to prepare the annual budget.
Perform regulatory and compliance research as needed.
Prepare and present grant budget statuses at monthly and quarterly meetings.
Monitor and review subrecipients’ budgets and invoices.
Be a trusted resource and support internal clients with data driven management and financial analysis as needed across the organization.
Assist with accounting duties including, but not limited to, reviewing general ledger transactions, allocating programmatic expenses, aiding month-end close duties, and reconciliation efforts.
Develop and streamline finance processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Review contracts and service agreements to understand billing requirements and deliverables.
Actively participate in reflective supervision
Ad hoc projects as needed.
Working Conditions
This position is eligible for hybrid in person & remote work. Time spent on-site versus remote working will be discussed and agreed upon with your supervisor. You are expected to be available on-site as necessary given business needs. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress.
Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required.

The pay scale for the Staff Grant Accountant is $70,000-$80,000 DOE. This is a full-time, salaried position. This is a hybrid position (flex work), with some days required in our Castro Valley Office. Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area.
