The Department of Mathematics at Rowan University invites applications for multiple Lecturer positions in Mathematics (pure or applied) and Statistics, to join the seven recently hired Lecturers. The positions are full-time, renewable, and with benefits. Primary responsibilities include teaching mathematics or statistics (depending on background) at the 100, 200, and possibly 300 levels. Lecturers are 10-month positions, and successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with the option to teach overload and the possibility of teaching summer classes for additional compensation.
Candidates must hold at least a Master's degree (Ph.D. is preferred) in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline. Evidence of excellence in teaching is required. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate dedication to student-centered service that is focused on helping students gain critical professional skills outside of the classroom, or service centered on significant duties in coordinating or enhancing introductory level courses.
The Department of Mathematics currently has over 260 undergraduates and 20 graduate students, and offers B.A., B.S. and M.A. degrees as well as minors in Statistics & Operations Research and Applied Mathematics. There are 23 full-time, tenure-track faculty, doing research in pure and applied mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, and interdisciplinary work with colleagues from other departments and colleges.
