The role of litigation paralegal is to provide support to our attorneys by being familiar with and able to draft and prepare Summons and Complaints, Answers, Motions, Discovery Demands and Responses, settlement documents and general correspondence to Courts, opposing attorneys and clients. Our firm manages a heavy load of state and federal cases so organization and attention to detail and deadlines are preferred skills. The litigation paralegal should be familiar with the latest legal research tools including LexisNexis and Westlaw and generally able to perform legal research. The role of litigation paralegal requires proficiency in Microsoft Word and it is desired that the paralegal be familiar with the NY State Courts E-Filing System and Federal Court ECF and Pacer systems. The role requires the applicant to be familiar with procedures and practices of the Supreme Court of New York, mainly in the 5 boroughs and Nassau and neighboring counties, and Federal Courts, mostly in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York but will require the paralegal to assist the attorneys in Florida and New Jersey state and federal cases as well, though less frequently than New York cases. The paralegal will help manage the court calendar and prepare documents required to be submitted to meet court submission deadlines. The position is for 40 hours per week but ability to work an extra hour on occasion is desired. College degree is required.
