A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE / OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE
As an Account Executive / Outside Sales Representative, you are at the front lines of revenue generation so that we can continue serving our clients and providing for our employees. Under the direction of the Regional Vice President of Sales, you are responsible for full sales cycle, from procuring and maintaining clients to providing an in-depth analysis of needs, submitting estimates, obtaining the order, and following through. You generate new leads through entertainment, direct mail, referrals, advertising, trade shows, cold calls, networking, nurturing relationships, and other promotional activities. You are enthusiastic and self-motivated.
As you listen to the needs of potential and current clients, you effectively explain how our services can satisfy those needs. Using your excellent communication skills, you skillfully overcome objections and negotiate the price and terms within the context of our company policies. You continue to build these relationships as you follow up with leads and provide post-sales support for your accounts. You love interacting with people and establish a rapport easily. Collaborating with clients, other departments, vendors, and subcontractors to move sales and projects forward is second nature to you.
By analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation, you assist in the preparation of time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for all phases of your projects. You keep developing your estimating skills and make sure to stay current on services, pricing structures, competitor offerings, and industry trends. Though you love interacting with people, you are also organized and goal-oriented. Using your analytical side, you proactively forecast sales and carefully plan out your month, quarter, and year in order to regularly achieve goals. Seeing your efforts pay off in your paycheck gives you a great sense of accomplishment.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE / OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE
- Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent experience, preferably in construction management
- 5 years in direct sales, not telemarketing or inside sales
- Understanding of how to read and estimate from blueprints
- Excellent math and geometry skills
- Above-and-beyond customer service skills
- Exceptional sales and relationship-building skills
- Estimating experience in paving, landscaping, or construction environments would be a plus! Do you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal? Are you a can-do person with a strong work ethic and hunger for success? Do you have a positive attitude and carry yourself professionally? Are you ethical?
