Skilled Senior Research Associate with expertise in cell cultures and biological systems to oversee, develop, and conduct a variety of drug screening assays and secondary
selectivity/specificity assays in a range of model systems related to Alzheimer's disease, and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Investigate, develop, trouble-shoot, optimize, and run medium to HTS drug discovery campaigns.
Generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner.
Maintain and manage cell culture (bacterial, clonal, transformed, primary, iPSCs).
Collect, compile, analyze, and present experimental and literature-based data.
Work independently to schedule, prioritize, and multitask workload.
Identify, evaluate, and utilize resources within and outside of group.
Understand and internalize relevant scientific literature, and apply to discovery issues and efforts.
Suggest, design, and pursue relevant experiments that extend project goals.
Work effectively and collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Work effectively with equipment vendors to identify and evaluate laboratory equipment.
Initiate, and contribute to, the securement of funding.
Publish experimental results in peer-reviewed journals and informational science-related outlets.
Present experimental results at relevant scientific conferences.
Teach/demonstrate technical approaches to students and lab personnel.
Maintain detailed record-keeping and data organization.
Assist in laboratory management and equipment maintenance.
Perform other related duties as assigned or delegated.
Required Education & Experience:
BA in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related field.
Fluent English speaker and excellent reading, writing and communication skills.
Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills.
Works well and collaborates within a group setting.
Familiar with standard Windows Office software, spreadsheet applications, and graphics applications.
Contributes to intellectual learning and advancement of the organization.
Must achieve a background check clearance.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Assay development and HTS campaigns for drug discovery using colorimetric, UV/Vis absorbance,
luminescent, fluorescent, radiometric, ELISA, immunohistochemical, high-content, and atomic absorption formats.
Western Blot analysis.
Evaluation and analysis of competitive inhibitors and allosteric modulators (positive and negative) of protein targets.
Culture and/or scale-up of bacterial, yeast, insect, clonal, transformed, and primary cells, including iPSCs.
Experience in cloning and protein biochemistry techniques.
Fluent with Microsoft Office and linear/non-linear graphing software
Writing, reviewing, and publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts.
