Planetary Systems Corporation by Rocket Lab (PSC), a manufacturer of satellite mechanisms, is seeking a skilled mechanical part inspection technician with experience using and programming bridge CMMs. PSC's products include separation systems, on-orbit devices, and other electro-mechanical deployables.

Candidates must be able to work independently in a small company environment. Title: CMM Programmer Position Type: Hourly, 40 hours per week Start Date: Immediate Location: Silver Spring, MD Company Overview: Since 1998, PSC by Rocket Lab has been supplier of aerospace mechanisms for the satellite industry. With a proven track record of manufacturing reliable space mechanisms, PSC has had hundreds of successful product operations in orbit. Acquired by Rocket Lab in 2021, PSC is scaling up its inspection, manufacturing, and test capabilities to meet the quickly increasing demands of the satellite industry.

For more information about PSC, see Responsibilities: * Inspect mechanical and electrical components before use in traceable spacecraft assemblies. * Use and maintenance of Coordinate Measurement Machines, calipers, micrometers, gages, comparators, hardness testers, and other common mechanical inspection tools. * Create CMM procedures and document best practices. * Create Standard Operating Procedures for specific mechanical parts. * Guide other Technicians and Engineers regarding CMM best practices. * Communicate findings through written standardized documentation and verbal discussion. * Assemble space flight mechanisms following written production drawings and procedures. * Idea generation of potential process improvements. Required Skills: * Experience using and programming CMMs to inspect mechanical parts. * Strong technical and mechanical capability. * Familiarity with common aerospace inspection tools, e.g. calipers, multimeters, micrometers, gages, comparators, etc. * Attention to detail necessary to verify inspected components meet required specifications. * Integrity and focus to follow and execute procedures. * Familiarity with common aerospace assembly tools, e.g. torque wrenches, force gages, load cells, scales, etc. Required Qualifications: * Technical degree or previous experience in a relevant position. * Familiarity with common geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices. * Passion for doing excellent work with mechanisms and physical assemblies. * Mechanically-inclined and able to troubleshoot basic equipment issues * Self-motivated mind-set. * Effective verbal and written communication abilities * Familiarity with common manufacturing processes. * Desire to work in a small-company environment. * Candidate has capacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S.

export control laws. Preferred Qualifications: * At least 2 years' experience in the aerospace industry. * Direct inspection or design experience with parts complying to the ASME Y14.5 standard.
