Position Description:

The Executive Director is the key management leader of the AUM Foundation. The AUM Charitable Foundation is a grassroots, nonprofit organization formed with the mission to empower socially and economically under-resourced females to become successful. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the budget, overseeing programs, implementing the strategic plan, fundraising, and administering day-to-day operations of the organization. Other key duties include marketing and community outreach. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and supervises employees. This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama.

Organization Mission and Strategy:

Works with AUM Foundation Board of Directors to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.

  • Implements AUM Foundation's programs that carry out the organization's mission
  • Monitors the strategic plan and budget to ensure that the AUM Foundation can successfully fulfill its mission into the future
  • Enhances the AUM Foundation's image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and community organizations

Financial Performance and Viability:

Develops and manages resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the AUM Foundation
  • Conducts fundraising and develops other resources necessary to support the organization's mission
  • Works closely with the Board Treasurer to prepare monthly financial statements and the annual budget
  • Manages the organization's finances to operate within the guidelines set by the Board of Directors
  • Executes an annual major fundraising event and smaller events, as needed

Organization Operations:

Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure the operations of the organization are fulfilled.

  • Effectively administers the AUM Foundation operations and programs
  • Responsible for hiring and retention of all staff
  • Signs all agreements and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization (as approved by the Board of Directors)

Program Management:

Implements and administers AUM Foundation programs and projects.

  • Pathway 2 Success Program:
    • Selects female high school senior students to participate in the Pathway 2 Success Program
    • Recruits local businesswomen to serve as mentors in the Mentorship Program
      • Pairs mentors with mentees enrolled in the Program
    • Enlists subject matter experts for the Enrichment/Life Skills Classes
    • Provides networking and development activities for mentees
    • Plans strategically according to the P2S Program Pillars (Enrichment classes, Mentoring, Career Exploration, Scholarship, Tools for School and Individualized ACT Prep
  • Pathway 2 Inclusion Program:
    • Promotes the Pathway 2 Inclusion program to local companies
    • Assists trainer for delivery of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity training for the company
  • Coordinates other projects and activities, as deemed necessary

General Responsibilities:

Works with AUM Board of Directors to fulfill the mission of the organization

  • Responsible for leading the AUM Foundation in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission, as defined by the Board of Directors
  • Works closely with Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the AUM Foundation in our community
  • Communicates effectively with the Board and provides, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions
  • Serves as the AUM Foundation's primary spokesperson to the general public
  • Coordinates and participates in Board and Committee meetings
  • Oversees Marketing and communication efforts
  • Prepared and presents monthly board
  • General social media posts


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years of experience in management or leadership roles
  • 5 years of experience working for a non-profit organization
  • 2 years of experience in fundraising and development
  • 2 years of experience working with youth
    • Solid hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, forecasting, analysis, decision making, and reporting
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Grant writing experience
  • Strong organizational skills including planning, delegating, program development, and implementation
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people from female teenagers to business owners/CEO
  • Ability to convey the vision of the AUM Foundation's strategic future to the board, volunteers, and donors
  • Strong public speaking ability
  • Ability to collaborate with and motivate board members and volunteers
  • Possess business and community connections in the Huntsville area
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector
  • Experience in working with universities and colleges
  • Event-planning experience
