Description
The Human Resources Generalist will plan and coordinate the human resources functions of the organization. The HR Generalist will oversee the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of new staff, consult with executives on strategic planning and policy development, ensure legal compliance in employment practices, and serve as a link between the organization's management and its employees on Human Resources issues.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between management and employees by handling Human Resource related questions and helping to resolve personnel problems or grievances fairly and promptly.
- Promote positive employee relations, open communication, a sense of cooperation, and "team spirit."
- Recruit, interview and select applicants in electronic applicant tracking system. Manage interviews, hiring processes and employment offers.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with colleges, coordinate and participate in job fairs wherever management identifies.
- Schedule and collaborate with administrative staff to conduct new employee orientation and onboarding.
- Serve as liaison between new hires and immediate supervisors to ensure successful transition into new position.
- Benefit administration for all employees including plan selection with brokers and vendors, billing, open enrollment, ACA and COBRA.
- Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment as well as other areas and recommend needed changes.
- Advise and support senior management in dispute mediation, disciplinary actions and evaluations, and proposed terminations.
- Regularly review and modify written company policies and employee handbook, communicate changes to employees.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws at federal and state levels (multi-state employer). Prepare and submit annual compliance reports to the appropriate agencies.
- FMLA case management, eligibility, notifications, and communication with employees and managers.
- Coordinate and manage Affirmative Action Program in compliance with legal requirements; and evaluate progress and review annually.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and reporting, coordinate communication with injured employees, and assist in investigating accidents when needed.
- Develop and coordinate employee training on topics such as sexual harassment, cultural diversity, and other relevant topics.
- Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Manage the company drug and alcohol screening program.
- Ensure proper electronic filing of personnel records in compliance with legal recordkeeping requirements.
- Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) as it pertains to HR duties.
- Participate in the internal Safety and QMS committees.
- Participate in quarterly Safety Committee meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Communications, Business or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in human resources.
- General knowledge of a wide range of human resource functions.
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively with employees across all levels of the organization, as well as the ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion and integrity.
- Comfortable speaking, presenting and/or training in front of groups.
- Highly organized, thorough, able to work well independently and a self-starter.
- Must possess excellent computer skills and demonstrated ability to learn software systems used by Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years or more of experience in human resources.
- PHR or SPHR certification.
- Proficiency in HRIS and payroll system Paylocity.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Work Environment:
- This position will be in-person at our Denver Metropolitan Office(Thornton).
- Office environment, frequent use of phones, sitting and typing at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Moderate noise level.

Pay (based on education and experience):
- $30 - $50 per hour
- This is a nonexempt full-time position that will be paid hourly
- Annual Salary Estimate: $62,000 - $100,000
