Prominent CPA firm in San Mateo is seeking a Tax Assistant over the next 2-3 months to assist during busy season. This is an entry-level position that offers an exciting opportunity to begin your career & work directly with Senior-level Managers/Partners!

Responsibilities:
~Assemble and Proof Tax Returns
~Work on tax extensions
~Process and input data for tax return filing and tracking (paper filed and e-file)
~Process and facilitate tax return deliveries
~Process and bind all tax returns
~Handle all correspondence, including composing letters, typing, filing, scanning and creating PDF files
~Assist with organizing offices and files, retrieve/return client files from file room and return files to file room daily
~Answer phone; return calls, direct telephone calls; schedule conference calls, respond to telephone calls in a timely manner with needed information as appropriate; change email, voice mail, unified messaging as appropriate, retrieve voice mails
~Assist with presentations, personal projects when requested, research the internet for information, research, miscellaneous projects and compile miscellaneous reports
~Work on various projects and tasks as needed
~Maintain detailed, sensitive and confidential files
~Create and organize new files
~Ensure files are accurate and up-to-date
Requirements
~BA/BS or AS in Accounting or equivalent job experience (Bachelor's degree preferred)
~0-6+ months of work experience
~Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and Microsoft Outlook
~Flexibility to work various hours during tax seasons including overtime
~Administrative Tax Return processing experience preferred
~Able to multitask and prioritize tasks with good judgment
~High attention to detail
~Demonstrates dependability and sense of urgency
~Ability to interact with senior management in the organization
