Description Plant Controller

Job Overview

The Controller is responsible for day-to-day financial operations, preparing month-end closings and financial forecasts. The Controller is to provide financial advice to the plant manager using financial data, meeting corporate requirements of the division, and ensuring accuracy of physical inventory. Additionally, they are responsible for controlling the flow of raw materials, tools, and other assets in the manufacturing department.

Responsibilities and Duties

Develop, implement, and manage finance accounting procedures to guide financial decisions

Establish, maintain, and monitor appropriate internal control safeguards; and identify problem areas and develop corrective actions

Prepare monthly reports of results, monthly forecasts, and annual budgets

Support sales operations by providing guidance on pricing of product offerings

Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variance, initiating corrective actions.

Analyze financial statements and management reports to identify business trends and potential risks/opportunities versus the forecasts

Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential

Provide ongoing evaluation of operating costs and profit margins and advise management on improving efficiency and profitability of the company

Provide financial analysis as needed for operational and strategic requirements

Ensure records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles

Review audit files and assume responsibility for interim and yearly audits

Responsible for cash disbursements, cash receipts, monitoring of delinquent accounts, and monitoring of office and plant equipment purchases

Requirements Ideal candidate will bring:

Bachelors' degree in Finance, or equivalent work experience

Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a controller, ideally in a manufacturing environment

Minimum 7+ years in accounting/finance

Experience in manufacturing costing including development of Bills of Materials, Routings and Standard Costs

Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, accounts payable and accounts receivable

Good understanding of relational databases

Ability to supervise, motivate, instruct, and develop employees as business grows

Effective communication ability across all organization levels

Ability to meet deadlines and maintain composure under stress

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
