A Payroll Clerk role has become available with a company through Robert Half Finance and Accounting. The client is searching for a candidate that is skilled in the production of accurate and timely payroll for employees, communicate effectively, and deliver strong internal customer service while working in a deadline-driven environment. For immediate consideration please forward your resume over to Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1.Maintain system master payroll files for individual employee deductions, garnishments and benefits. i.e. insurance, 401(K), profit sharing and vacation.2.Coordinate timesheet import with location payroll processor, check and audit timesheet download files for completeness and conformance with wage and hours standards and company policies.3.Maintain records, recording accumulation and use of vacation, sick, miscellaneous leaves of absence or disability.4.Correspond with employees and office staff regarding payroll issues or requests.5.Develop, maintain and update various spreadsheets/reports i.e. 401(k), profit sharing, government labor reports, and insurance premiums. 6.Assist accounting staff in resolving General Ledger problems and reconciliation of payroll checks to bank statements.7.Responsible for thorough understanding of payroll and attendance systems, wage and hour laws and laws of government deductions and garnishments of employee wages.8.Process new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations through Great Plains payroll systems.9.Prepare, review and process bi-weekly payroll for multi-locations.10.Perform comparison of payroll, comparing current versus prior payroll in an effort to audit over and underpayments prior to submitting payroll.11.Manual entry of (approved) reimbursements.12.Calculate retro pay, as needed.13.Print, fold, sort and distribute checks and/or earning statements.14.Create and process weekly positive pay files to bank.15.Create files and pay weekly Illinois and Federal PR taxes. 16.Create and submit check requests for garnishments and child support payments.17.Create weekly 401K files for transmission to 401K TPA.18.Maintain employee payroll records with current employee information, i.e. pay rates, W4 status, benefit status, and address or telephone numbers.19.Create and process files for mass employee changes, i.e. GTL for W2s, healthcare costs for W2s, medical premiums and wage increases. 20.Review annual W2 file for accuracy, and process W2s.21.Print, fold, sort and distribute W2s.22.Ability to answer questions regarding payroll policies.23.Prepare ad-hoc reports for management, as requested.
