Location: Urbana, OH

As the Metrologist Engineer, you will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, and physics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in the dimensional, physical, mechanical, environmental, and/or chemical disciplines to ensure measurements accuracy. Identify and utilize appropriate measurement procedures. Perform corrective actions to address identified measurement problems. Adapt equipment, standards, and procedures to accomplish unique measurements. Maintain calibration standards. Perform laboratory and/or departmental housekeeping.

Primary Activities/Duties:

  • This position will support all departments at Rittal (product development, design, manufacturing engineering, and production).
  • Develop & maintain high quality through continual process review and/or capability (CMK) & (CPK) analysis during design and production using CMM (Romer Arm).
  • Be highly collaborative across multiple departments to develop, establish, revise/improve to ensure the most accurate/efficient process
  • Lead root cause analysis via cross-functional teams to determine true root cause and assist in corrective actions.
  • Complete appropriate 8-D, Fishbone, and/or 5-Why documentation.
  • Implement preventative quality measures as the preferred means of improving both product and process quality
  • Use statistics to analyze measurement standards and processes

What we seek;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • 2-3 years minimum experience with degree; 4-5 years minimum experience without degree
  • Proficient in using different types of “CMM” Equipment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 with good auditing skills and 8-D Problem-solving methods,
  • Product/process evaluation and corrective action implementation (i.e. process mapping & PFMEA)
  • Proficient computer skills to include MS Office, SAP, Statistical Process Control software
  • Be willing to participate in different training modules towards advancing knowledge base in the quality field.
  • Good communication skills to effectively influence and recommend acceptance criteria and corrective actions
  • Green/Black Belt certification a plus
  • Proficient in using 3D software
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong mathematics background with excellent analytical skills.
