Job Description

Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist who will have direct responsibility to perform environmental consulting projects including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for agricultural, residential, commercial, and industrial projects and hazardous materials technical studies for CEQA related projects including energy, transportation, commercial, and affordable housing projects.


What Do You Get To Do In This Position:

  • Conduct Phase I ESA site reconnaissance surveys to identify potential hazardous material concerns
  • Be responsible for organizing, executing, and coordinating Phase I ESAs and other related technical documents 
  • Coordinate and consult with federal, state and local regulatory agencies to acquire environmental documentation for projects
  • Work with project managers to obtain, summarize and analyze environmental and analytical data for inclusion in environmental assessment documents including Phase I ESAs, environmental impact reports, initial studies, mitigated negative declarations, environmental impact statements, and other environmental assessments
  • Conduct management and preparation of environmental documents and studies in support of regulations required under ASTM, AAI, CEQA, and NEPA
  • Perform all other duties as requested by supervisor(s)

This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:

  • B.S. degree in Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field (advanced degrees welcomed)
  • Up to 1 year (full-time equivalent) of directly related professional experience with Phase I ESAs
  • Exceptional organizing, executing, and coordinating skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with technical writing (Phase I ESAs, hazards sections of CEQA/NEPA documents or similar technical reports)
  • Ability to work with planning managers to gather and prepare hazardous materials data for planning documents such as environmental impact reports, initial studies, and mitigated negative declarations
  • Ability to travel 50% to 100% (with occasional overnight stays)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain for extended periods of time
  • OSHA health and safety training for hazardous waste sites (40-hour HAZWOPER)
  • Well-organized, analytical, hard-worker, sense of humor, and team player/leader
