Reynolds Defense Firm Portland, OR
- Expired: over a month ago. Applications are no longer accepted.
Reynolds Defense Firm is looking for the right attorney to join our Portland office as a fulltime Associate Attorney.
Reynolds Defense Firm is a unique, dynamic, and growing legal business that specializes in representing good people facing Oregon DUI charges. Our clients are people who need the quality legal services we provide and who also want to use their arrest as an opportunity to make whatever life changes are needed to ensure he or she never ends up in this type of situation again.
RDF has an incredible team of attorneys and staff, and together we’ve created a collaborative and drama-free culture that allows us to focus on doing fantastic work for our clients. And, we have to doing some things right, as we are now the largest privately retained DUI defense firm in the Pacific Northwest, and, for the second year in a row, the Portland Business Journal identified RDF as one of the fastest growing businesses in all of Oregon and SW Washington.
If this job posting resonates with you, we truly look forward to speaking with you:
Associate Attorney responsibilities include:
1. You will have an active caseload consisting mostly of misdemeanor DUI cases. Our narrow specialty allows (and requires) you to become an expert in both DUI law and in the court systems where we appear. Ultimately, you will master your craft to produce great client experiences in terms of both legal outcomes and client satisfaction, while being mindful of real-world business parameters.
2. You will work with other RDF team members to help us improve our Legal Department and our business. We are constantly evolving, and each person here is involved in making us better.
3. You will look to yourself to identify gaps in your knowledge and to actively seek out ways to learn to be better at what you do. This includes improving your legal/technical/tactical skills and includes growing as a person by identifying and seeking help with any personal traits that hamper or limit your effectiveness.
Legal experience - Our ideal Associate Attorney candidate will have at least three years of Oregon criminal law experience as a defense attorney and/or as a prosecutor and will have an excellent working knowledge of Oregon’s criminal and vehicle codes, relevant case law, and DMV license consequences. Extra bonus points go to candidates who are 1) fluent in Spanish, or 2) are licensed in Washington State and have experience with Washington State DUI laws.
[Note– if you feel you are over or under qualified based upon your legal experience, but the rest of these qualifications perfectly describe you, please feel free to apply anyway – we are looking for the right person and have some flexibility as to the role of the attorney who next joins us.]
Personality- this person must have a presence. Self-confident but not egotistical. Sincere. Be a team player - RDF rises or falls as a firm, not as individuals. Be level-headed, professional, good natured, not take self too seriously. Remain upbeat in difficult times. Hard working. This person must be prepared to pull his/her own weight at RDF, recognize that sometimes that isn't enough, and pull some more. No drama.
Be solid - to us, this means being honest, confident, compassionate, sincere, trustworthy, empathetic, not boastful, courageous, smart, kind, and genuine.
Be driven- no "phoning it in." This person must have goals and ambitions; not be "too good" for any task and must be willing to work hard to achieve goals.
Skills and traits -
Technical - has them or has familiarity and can quickly learn. Pride in work product. Team mentality. Adaptable - roll with change. Ability to anticipate and think ahead. Strive to improve both personally and professionally every day.
If you believe you will be great at this role, please send your resume, and a cover letter that helps us get to know who you are and shares why you would like to be part of our team, to Kami White.
