Job Description

Clinical Research Coordinator

Research Responsibilities

  • Monitor fridge temps daily (upstairs and downstairs)
  • Schedule patients for appointments and double-check that upcoming visits are within window
  • Maintain transportation needs and requests from patients, and schedule accordingly
  • Prepare source documents and subject binders for upcoming visits
  • Perform visual acuity examination
  • Self-maintain certification (GCP, IATA, misc. study certification)
  • Maintain and ensure the site specific binder is kept up to date
  • Maintain investigators and staff CVs
  • Fax letters/correspondence to PCPs or patients, as applicable
  • Maintain supply of consent forms for ongoing and upcoming studies
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical trial protocols
  • Compile obtained study images and save appropriate for study coordinator to upload to the reading centers
  • Assist in basic phlebotomy and lab processing requirements (where applicable)
  • Maintain screening and subject logs
  • Maintain lab kits, study supplies, and misc. research office supplies
  • Review/audit source documents for accuracy and completeness (ability to do so varies by study)
  • Generate NextGen reports to pre-screen patients for studies and obtain necessary information for coordinators to complete feasibility questionnaires
  • Contribute to, and review, research updates
  • Monitor clinical trials and take notes on study activities
  • Meet with research coordinators daily/weekly to review protocols, complete necessary training, as well as assess areas that could be improved or worked on, and evaluate research needs

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 2+ year of CRC experience preferred
  • Ophthalmology experience (preferably retina/vitreous)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, NextGen EMR system (or experience with any other EMR system)
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Team oriented mind-set (assist in clinic when needed for work-up, OCTs, CPs, FAs, scribing, work together with other staff to perform necessary research activities)
  • Understanding of both clinic and research flow to efficiently complete tasks and move patients through their visits
  • Desire to continuously learn new things
