JOB TITLE:             Managing Overnight Behavioral Technician 

STATUS:                 Full-Time

REPORTS TO:        Director of Operations 

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:


    1. The Managing Overnight Behavioral Technician has multiple responsibilities that fall into several specific categories, including observation of self administrated medication use, safe handling, transporting, documentation, destruction, monitoring of client self-administered medications in response to symptoms, behaviors, and conditions, for which the use of medications is indicated and deemed efficacious. The position requires risk management evaluation, analysis, quality control, and staff training/education that meet state and local regulatory compliance standards. As an extension to the Medical Director, the position includes ongoing duties as a quality improvement health care specialist responsible for monitoring and ensuring best practices prescription and delivery processes are exercised by the organization; evaluating medication use policies and procedures, staff medication errors, causes, and trends, and areas for improvement.
    2. Serves as the lead liaison to the Operations Director , CEO , and Medical team to whom all clinical staff shall communicate client medical and medication needs; the position requires oversight of the quality records management system; procedures that provide for the ongoing monitoring of the quality, appropriateness, and utilization of services provided.
    3. Assist in oversight of the organization’s Infection Prevention and Control Program in collaboration with the Health and Safety Team; including monitoring infectious disease trends and causes amongst personnel and clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

      1. Minimum Qualifications – 
      2. Exceptional ability to focus on details, organization, and work independently.
      3. Strong interpersonal skills; including listening, coaching and training.
      4. Experience in healthcare quality assurance and control.
      5. Ability to develop strong relationships and work with senior level management.
      6. Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
      7. Possess a valid California Driver’s License
      8. Current First Aid/CPR certification.
      9. Current T.B. clearance.
      10. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, supervisor, and clinical staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


      1. Uphold and enforce the agency’s standards, policies and procedures, client rights, and professional code of ethics and conduct.
      2. Development of an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, person-centered philosophy, teamwork, and high performance.
      3. Demonstrate a clear understanding of Restoration Recovery Center's Mission, Purpose and Philosophy.
      4. Adhere to ethical business practices by striving to perform in a manner that conforms to the highest standards of ethical behavior, integrity and honesty.
      5. Work directly with the Medical Director as it relates to client medical, detoxification, and medication care needs.
      6. Provide support to COO by screening clients presenting with physical and/or medication concerns before approving physician appointment.
      7. Audit staff medication logs to for accuracy and completeness.
      8. Provide medication use training, including medication purpose, risks, intended benefits, targeted behavior or symptom, side effects, pregnancy risks, reactions, self-administering instructions, and documentation, to clinical and support staff.
      9. Immediately document and report critical incidents, behavioral incidents, and medication errors to Safety Officer and/or Program Director.
      10. Participate in mandatory ongoing Health & Safety training as scheduled.
      11. Participate in scheduled Human Resources training sessions.
      12. Conduct residence orientation to new clients that includes reviewing safety drills and locations of fire extinguishers, emergency evacuation diagram, exit routes, evacuation procedures, and first-aid kits.
      13. Document all instances of infectious diseases as described in infection prevention and control procedures located in Safety Binder.
      14. Gain thorough understanding of facility Safety Binder and document accordingly.
      15. Conduct emergency safety drills when announced by Safety Officer.
      16. May provide suggestions to clients relating to personal experience, strength, and hope.
      17. Refer client to his/her therapist/counselor for psychological/emotional issues.
      18. Additional duties may be required if deemed necessary by administration.
      19. Support senior administrative staff as required.
