Job Description


This role will report to the mine superintendent and is responsible on a daily shift basis in the attainment of short and long-term facility objectives. This includes supporting and directing personnel in the production cycle, milling, screening and maintenance department. The Mine Supervisor must be flexible to the changing needs of the underground mining operation which includes the ability to work 3rd shift.


  • Responsible for ensuring the mining operations operate safely and effectively to meet the needs of the business.
  • Leading the mining operation with minimal downtime and maximum productivity while maintaining a safety focused, MSHA compliant work environment. Empower employees and maintain positive employee relations at all levels of the organization, creating a culture of continuous improvement and ownership.
  • Responsible for compliance with all MSHA regulations.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and provides leadership to and reviews the work of assigned personnel. Train employees with established safety, operating and maintenance, rules and regulations. Hold personnel accountable for their job performance through coaching and discipline if necessary. Performs duties of assigned staff when necessary.
  • Develop a team environment, encompassing staff at all levels and expertise, that utilizes individual, site and corporate strengths to meet daily business needs, solve problems, develop and implement long-term goals and objectives.
  • Maintain established safety and health policies and regulations. Conduct Employee training in accident and fire prevention, MSHA requirements, and other employee safety processes. Distribute educational materials and information, audits mining areas and initiates the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with MSHA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Demonstrated strong safety background.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within mining industry.
  • 3 or more years' underground mining experience OR Bachelor's degree AND 1+ year underground mining experience.
  • Ability to work various shifts.
  • Knowledge with federal mining laws (MSHA).
  • Knowledge of mining methods and in use and operation of related equipment.
  • Knowledge in the installation, basic maintenance, or operation of mine ventilation and materials processing/handling systems and/or mine shaft maintenance.
  • Acquired general mechanical skills/aptitude.
  • Knowledge of or experience within preventive maintenance- parts inventory systems.
  • Exposure/knowledge of basic PC software programs.
  • Experience utilizing root cause analysis tools.
  • Must be a task-oriented person and with great focus on details.
